From her birth, Carrie White’s life was anything but normal. Home schooled by her overly religious mother, Carrie gets her first taste of the real world when she is forced to join mainstream schooling in her high school years. Taunted as a freak by her fellow classmates, Carrie soon discovers that she has special powers that help her gain confidence when talking her mother into letting her go to the prom. However, her dream night quickly becomes a nightmare for everyone when one practical joke gets out of hand.

If you’re a fan of the original Carrie movie, the remake, directed by Kimberly Peirce, is a must see. While the remake holds true to the story line of the original, it has been modernized with newer technology and instances so teens today can relate more.

One difference in the remake is I felt Sue Snell wasn’t as mean and heartless as she was in the original. Also, the climax was changed slightly and emphasized more gore than the original, which I expected since Carrie isn’t really that scary. And if you’ve read the novel, the overall ending should please you because they added an aspect from the book that was not in the original movie. I’ve never read the book myself, but I saw it with a friend who had and she said that the ending connects a little more with the book.
