The Godfather Part II: A Movie Review

Part II of the classic series, The Godfather Part II takes a look Vito Corleone’s rise to the title of the Godfather and Michael Corleone’s role as the Godfather after his father’s death. The movie constantly jumps back and forth between the stories of the two men and shows a comparison of how they are both similar, but very different at the same time.

The comparison between the father and son is what I loved the most about the movie. I thought it was very interesting to see how both generations took care of the family business in their own ways, as well as how the stress of keeping the family safe while still making a living affected them.

The only downside to this movie, I would say, is the length. While I usually don’t mind a three hour movie, there’s something about The Godfather Part II that makes me wish it was a little bit shorter. The length is actually the reason behind why it took me so long to watch it after the first one. I definitely had to prepare myself, get in the right mindset, and make sure I had time to sit and watch it all. I’m not sure if that’s just a girl thing or what, but if you have three hours to spare and like classic crime/mafia movies The Godfather Part II is definitely a must see.
